Production Worker
We’re not currently seeking production team members
Production team members assist with spring and summer mushroom production at the Northwood Mushrooms farm.
The work: Work can be very physical – primarily mushroom picking, but also force-fruiting, which includes log moving and skidsteer operation.
Hours: We’re looking for someone to help with farm work 40 to 50 hours per week starting at 7:30am or so, generally quitting around 4 or 5pm. Workers receive a day off each week during the week.
Duration: This position runs from April through October. We have year-round work through the winter, and we prefer to hire for those more limited positions from our summer team.
Compensation: Pay is either $12 per hour plus housing (if you live on the farm) or $15 per hour (if you live off the farm). Free mushrooms and discounts on other farm products are also available. Living on the farm includes a private room, all utilities, plus internet, and use of the farm house kitchen.
The Team: Summer teams are two or three full-time production and packing employees and interns.
Work Location: We have a beautiful 38 acre farm at 827 15th St., Clayton, WI 54004, about an hour and a half from the Twin Cities.
Selection Criteria: Previous general farm or production experience desirable, as well as speed, attention to detail, endurance, ability to work well with others and to lift 75 lbs. We hope to find someone who can step into the Production Lead position, which requires some mastery of the work, small team leadership, and the ability and initiative to troubleshoot problems like minor equipment repair.
Hiring deadline: We will hire for this position when we find the right person, ideally by the end of April.
Application Details: Please email Jeremy at cherrytreehousemushrooms@gmail.com with a description of why you’re interested in the position. He’d also like to see a resume and at least one professional and one personal reference.
Thanks for your interest in our production team member position!

Farmers Market Worker
We’re looking for a pate cook who will make our mushroom pates for farmers market and grocery sales.
The work: Prep ingredients, cook and mix mushroom pates, then package into tubs and jars at our commercial kitchen space in Amery, WI.
Work may also include other mushroom prep and packing at our farm in Clayton, WI.
Hours: Pate work at this point is sporadic, and no more than once per week. Pate work is expected to grow, especially during the winter, as demand for our products increases. There may or may not be mushroom prep and packing work during the winter.
Duration: Pate work is ongoing, but sporadic.
Compensation: hourly work at $16 per hour.
The Team: Pate work is independent, though our commercial kitchen often has several others working around or in the kitchen too. Our Summer farm team is about two or three full employees, while our winter team slims down to a single production worker.
Work Location: We make our mushroom pates at a beautiful and well-outfitted kitchen in Amery, WI, which is a little over an hour from the Twin Cities. Other prep and packing work is at our farm nearby – a beautiful 38 acre farm at 827 15th St., Clayton, WI 54004.
Selection Criteria: We are looking for someone with a background in food preparation who can work independently, quickly, and to a high standard. Candidates with food manager certification a plus.
Hiring deadline: We will hire as soon as we find the right candidate.
Application Details: Please email Jeremy at cherrytreehousemushrooms@gmail.com with a description of why you’re interested in the position. He’d also like to see a resume and at least two professional references.
