Seeking Renter - ideal for a farmer!
We are looking for a renter for a home that is right next to our mushroom farm in Clayton, Wisconsin. It's a good place on its own, but we also have lots of tillable acreage and other benefits available. Here are some details:
-
Three bedrooms, two bathrooms, living room, kitchen, laundry area, screened in porch
-
Single story, no basement
-
Manufactured home built in 2000
-
One and a half acres
-
There is one outbuilding, a small shed that was used as a chicken coop
-
This is out in the country, so it has septic, well water, and a gas tank for heating.
-
The house will be available most likely October 1, 2025 - though perhaps a little sooner.
-
Rent will probably be $1600/month - which includes all utilities (septic, gas, electric, water, garbage) except phone/internet. It also includes mowing and plowing of the driveway.
-
The property is surrounded on three sides by our mushroom farm!
-
Year-long lease

Location:
The house (and our farm) are in Clayton, WI. We are a couple minute drive from Turtle Lake to the northeast and Clear Lake to the southwest, both of which have grocery, hardware stores, etc. The nearest "big town" is Amery, about 15 minutes away. The Amery area is rich in sustainable farming families. We are about an hour and twenty minutes from the Twin Cities in Minnesota.

For those interested in farming:
-
Our farm is 38.5 acres and has been certified organic for at least 15 years. We have approximately 18 acres tillable and 2 acres that would be better as pasture. The farm was used as a vegetable CSA farm before us; pigs have also been raised on the farm by us and the farmers before us. There is no fencing anywhere though! We are open to mobile or permanent fencing.
-
There is water access (we have an ag well with lines running to several spots on the farm) and possibly use of part of a high tunnel.
-
We have a skidsteer that could be used from time to time, and mushroom compost!
