Are mushrooms part of your holiday meals? Mushroom stuffing, mushroom gravy, roasted mushrooms - there are a lot of ways to include mushrooms! And remember our mushroom butters and pates. The pates especially are a nice addition to your hors d'oeuvres selection.

Somehow Thanksgiving is only a week and half away, and then Christmas will be here before you know it - so we're thinking a lot about holiday meals. Food, good quality food, is pretty important to us. It's a big reason why we ended up in this whole mushroom farm world. Whatever you do for the holidays, we hope you get to enjoy some really excellent food and the company of people you love.
Now then, back to the farm! We saw snow in the forecast so last week we hurriedly took down all the shade fabric from the shade structure. There may be a few late, last minute mushrooms lurking under there now, but for the most part this means the outdoor season is over.
A beautiful blue sky, the dead grass of summer, and the exposed pipes of the shade structure. If I was more poetic I could write some sort of poem about the logs resting for the winter... good night logs... ha!
Amazingly, the snow did arrive - about 1 inch on Saturday night. I'm glad our preparations paid off!
The main thing happening around here is the little project in the packshed.
The little room gets a roof.
and a ceiling!
I can't wait to see what progress we make in the next couple weeks! And I'm sure you all can't wait to hear what we're actually up to. Patience! All will be revealed. 😉
I've been cooking up all the pumpkins from our garden. It turns out Spore likes pureed pumpkin. This picture is AFTER I gave him a little spoonful on his plate. He gobbled it up and came running over for more! He's our little weirdo.
